RAK Client WiFi Setup

Follow these steps to configure the RAK router as a WiFi client.

1. Power On and Connect

  1. Power on the router and wait for the LED to pulse blue/green (approx. 30s to 1min).
  2. On your PC, check the list of available Wi-Fi networks:
    • If the RAK router appears, connect to it.
    • If it does not appear, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

  1. A password is required to connect. Most routers use the default password:

2. Access the Router Console

  1. Open a browser and navigate to: https://192.168.230.1/

    • Click Advanced

  1. At the login screen, use the same password found in the location sheet.

3. Enable Client WiFi Mode

  1. The router will restart to apply the changes.
  1. Reconnect to the router and return to the Wi-Fi settings (refresh the page if necessary).
  2. Enter the Wi-Fi credentials for the target network and click Save.

4. Verify Connectivity

  1. Once connected, verify that the router is communicating with Amazon or Loriot.

5. Troubleshooting

RAK Not Showing in Wi-Fi List

This may indicate that Wi-Fi access is disabled on the device. Try the following steps to connect:

  1. Connect a LAN cable directly between the router and a PC.
  2. Power on the router.
  3. Calculate the fallback IP using the router's MAC address.

Calculate the Fallback IP

Example: If the MAC address is `AC1F09140F01`:

  1. Take the last two hex digits: `0F` and `01`
  2. Convert them to decimal using Windows calculator:
    1. `0F` → 15
    2. `01` → 1

  1. Construct the fallback IP as: 169.254.15.1

Use this IP in the browser to access the router console:

After completing the setup, remember to enable LAN WiFi so the device appears again in the Wi-Fi list.
